Can You Handle It When It Hurts You? (The Holy Spirit Assignment)

Look at your neighbor and say, “Neighbor, this is your assignment.  Now, can you handle it?”

Say, “Neighbor, when it humiliates you, can you handle it?”

Say, “Neighbor, when it humbles you, can you handle it?”

And say, “Finally, neighbor, when it hurts you, can you handle it?”

Come on, let’s praise God now.  Let’s go in, let’s go in, let’s go in, let’s go in, let’s go in, let’s go in, let’s go in.

You see, First Lady, it’s not, it’s not that your assignment humiliated you, ‘cause you probably could’ve handled that, and it’s not even that, that it humbled you, ‘cause you probably could’ve handled that.

But what do you do when it hurts you to the core?  What do you do when they hurt you?  What do you do when you are broken, busted, and disgusted?  What do you do when your lover betrays you?  What do you do when the job you gave your life to spits you out like you don’t even matter?  What do you do when they throw you out and leave you in your blood to die?

Push your neighbor, and say, “Neighbor, now it’s hurting, now it’s hurting, now it’s hurting, and I stopped by here to tell you that if you have a real Christian assignment, it’s gonna hurt.”  Push your neighbor and say, “It’s gonna hurt.”  Come on, push somebody else and say, “It’s gonna hurt.”  Because the hurt, David said, many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers them out of them all.  I know you got a friend that hurt you, but you are not alone, because I heard David say, my own familiar friend, my best friend, if I had food he had food, if I had a car he had a ride, if I had this he had that, he said, my own familiar friend did lift up his heel!  That means I was down, and they stomped me while I was down.  Look at your neighbor and say, “It’s gonna hurt.”  Say, “It’s gonna hurt, it’s gonna hurt.”  David said that they that hate me are more than the hairs on my head.  In other words, Jesus put it, they hated me without a cause.  Somebody scream, “It’s gonna hurt.  It’s gonna hurt, it’s gonna hurt.  It’s gonna hurt, it’s gonna hurt.”  But I heard Jesus say, oh, Lord, oh, God, that what you are going through didn’t happen because of man.  What you are going through didn’t happen because of people.  What you are going through didn’t happen because of circumstances.  What you are going through didn’t happen because of the economy.  He said, Joseph, that which Mary has didn’t happen because she made a mistake, but it’s because of the Holy Ghost.  Some of y’all got that.  What you’re going through ain’t about them hateful people, but it’s because of the Holy Ghost.

Somebody look at your neighbor and say, “Neighbor, my assignment requires me to go through this pain.”  Say, “My assignment requires me to be humiliated.”  Say, “My assignment requires me to be humbled.”  And say, “Neighbor, it hurts.”  Say, “Neighbor, it hurts.”  Come on, give three people a high-five and say, “It hurts, it hurts.  It hurts, it hurts.  It hurts, it hurts.  It hurts, it hurts.  It hurts me.”  It hurt me when you lied on me, it hurt me when you talked about me, it hurt me when y’all laughed at me, it hurt me when you ridiculed me, it hurt me when you told me I would never be anything, it hurt me when you walked out on me, it hurt me when I didn’t know if I was up or down, it hurt me when I was losin’ my mind, it hurt me when I was losin’ my head.

But God told me to tell you this is of the Holy Ghost.  This is of the Holy Ghost.  Look at your neighbor, and say, “Neighbor, if it’s of the Holy Ghost, there’s gonna be a shifting.  If it’s of the Holy Ghost, there’s gonna be a transfer.  If it’s of the Holy Ghost, there’s gonna be a restoration.  If it’s of the Holy Ghost, there’s gonna be a reclamation, for I reckon that the suffering of this present time is not worthy to be compared to the Holy Ghost.  I reckon that the presence of this is not going to always be.  But my suffering is gonna turn to my glory.  The baby that y’all laughed about is gonna be the savior of the world!  The baby that y’all talked about is God with us, and I got a baby on the inside of me, and there is glory!”
